Anderson County, TN – Anderson County Schools proudly announces the appointment of April Meyers as the new Chief Academic Officer of Middle Schools, bringing with her over 20 years of dedicated service and leadership in education. Known for her unwavering commitment to student achievement and community engagement, Meyers stands as a respected figure in Tennessee’s educational landscape.
In 2023, Meyers was recognized as one of nine finalists for the prestigious Tennessee Principal of the Year award by the Tennessee Department of Education—a testament to her outstanding leadership and passion for educational excellence.
Meyers began her career as a science and English teacher, quickly distinguishing herself as a passionate educator devoted to student growth and learning. Her success in the classroom led to progressive leadership roles, including serving as a curriculum specialist, academic dean, and most recently, principal of Clinton Middle School. Under her leadership, the school made significant strides in improving student attendance, discipline, and engagement.
Her impact extends beyond the district level. As the TCAP Ambassador for the East Region, Meyers contributed to statewide educational initiatives, fostering collaboration and sharing best practices to improve student outcomes across Tennessee.
Meyers holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Maryville College, a Master’s Degree in Special Education from Grand Canyon University, and an Education Specialist Degree from the University of Tennessee’s Leadership Academy. Her commitment to service also reaches the broader community through her active involvement with the Kiwanis Club of Clinch River.
A lifelong learner and staunch advocate for educational growth, Meyers is dedicated to setting high standards for both students and educators. Her leadership philosophy is rooted in collaboration, innovation, and accountability, always keeping the success and well-being of students at the forefront.

Meyers and her husband, Tim, are proud adoptive parents of five children, embodying their shared commitment to family and community. As she steps into this new role, Meyers looks forward to working closely with teachers, administrators, families, and community partners to strengthen Anderson County’s middle schools.
