  • The Professional License is valid for six years. In order to renew the Professional License, educators must earn 60 Professional Development Points (PDPs). - See more at: https://www.tn.gov/education/licensing/renew-a-license.html

  • Educators must earn 60 Professional Development Points (PDPs).

  • An educator with an apprentice or practitioner level license who is employed in Tennessee becomes eligible to advance to the professional level license upon recommendation by the employing school system or completing 30 professional development points and must have three years of acceptable experience.  The educator can log in to their TNCompass account to begin the advancement.  For more information, see more at  https://www.tn.gov/education/licensing/advance-a-license.html

  • When an educator completes a higher degree, the university/college must submit the appropriate documentation to the state. In addition to this  the educator must also submit an official set of transcripts to the Business Office. Once the educator's license has been updated to include the advanced degree, payroll will set the salary to the appropriate degree level.

  • A Professional license can be renewed within 1 year prior to the expiration of the license.  The educator must complete the process on TNCompass.
