How do I advance my Apprentice/Practitioner teaching license?
An educator with an apprentice or practitioner level license who is employed in Tennessee becomes eligible to advance to the professional level license upon recommendation by the employing school system or completing 30 professional development points and must have three years of acceptable experience. What do I need to do when I advance a degree?
When an educator completes a higher degree, the university/college must submit the appropriate documentation to the state. In addition to this the educator must also submit an official set of transcripts to the Business Office. Once the educator's license has been updated to include the advanced degree, payroll will set the salary to the appropriate degree level.

When can I renew my Professional License?
A Professional license can be renewed within 1 year prior to the expiration of the license. The educator must complete the process on TNCompass.
