Materials Needed: Magazine pictures, old wrapping paper, or stamped pictures scattered on a page
of paper; vis-a-vis pen, wet rags; recording sheet
Note:
Find either magazine pictures, wrapping paper, or create pictures by stamping pictures on a
page. Each picture should have between 12 - 100 objects that are easily countable. Label
each picture with a different letter. Laminate.
Technology: Counters and Sums, Math Concepts
Activity:
The child chooses a picture and records the letter on the recording sheet. He or she circles
as many groups of ten as possible. Next the child counts the total number of objects and
records the answer on the recording sheet.
Theme Ideas:
Place different types of rubber stamps, a stamp pad and blank paper at a station. The child
chooses a stamp and covers the paper with the stamp's image. He or she circles the stamped
images in groups of ten. Next the child counts the total and records the number on the page.
The recording can be taken home.
