Materials Needed:
Plastic or paper coins, money box or cash register, items you could purchase at a circus
(tickets, food items, souvenirs, etc.)

Activity:
A make-believe store will be set up in the classroom where students will purchase items
found at a circus. The students will use plastic or paper money to make their purchases.
The teacher can request that the student purchase any designated number of items that will
place the child in a situation to have to add and/or subtract money.
Theme Idea:
This activity can be used in a variety of ways to accommodate different themes being used in
the classroom.
