Activity:
Using the overhead, put prices on Mr. Potato Head's body parts. Then show students Mr. Potato Head. Give students items to purchase (example - nose, eyes, lips, etc.). Have student use dry erase boards and prices on the overhead to estimate the cost of Mr.
Potato Head's body parts by rounding prices and adding. Remind students that you don't
want the exact price total. Let students know that you are looking for the estimated
rounded answer.
Theme Idea: Use a menu to let students order lunch on a budget.
Explain that a thermometer records temperatures. Review the action of the mercury in relation to
the temperature of the air surrounding the thermometer.
