Poem "Two Boxes" by Shel Silverstein
3-D shapes
Technology:
Activity:
After reading the poem "Two Boxes", the teacher should discuss what 3 dimensional means. She should introduce each shape with its name and the actual block. The class should discuss what they know about each shape. The teacher should guide the students on a scavenger hunt throughout the room to find the three dimensional shapes that were discussed.
Extension: The students could graph how much of each shape they found.
Theme Ideas:
A unit on communities would correlate well with this topic because students could build
their own neighborhood using the shapes discussed.
